I love technology...

Thursday, February 21

(10 points for knowing that was a Napolean Dynamite reference.)

As promised yesterday, here's the reveal of my new deskspace, complete with shiny new iMac! As a refresher, here's what it looked like before.
The makeup/vanity area of my desk hasn't been getting much use the last few months (it's been dark when I get ready for work, so doing my makeup by the window isn't particularly beneficial), so clearing away those items to make way for my new tech baby was no great loss.
I also streamlined the items taking up residence on my desktop to keep only the necessary and the inspiring. I'm guilty of cluttering up a surface with too much stuff more often than I'd like to admit.
Now the desk holds a textured green lamp (from HomeSense a few years ago), a few of my favourite decor books (Young House Love, The Perfectly Imperfect Home, Domino: The Book of Decorating, and Good Bones, Great Pieces), my remaining Valentine's Day flowers in a little mint julep cup (from London Loft), the 'hello' print from Monday's post, a metal V (from Urban Outfitters a few years ago), a tarnished silver goblet that holds mini-clothespin paper clips (from my mom's china cabinet), my current reads (the March issue of Vogue & Grace Coddington's memoir), and a stack of chevron notepaper.
As a makeshift mousepad, I've taped a print by Leigh Viner and a small cut-out notecard to the slide-out tray of my desk. Obviously, this is temporary until I find a mousepad I love.
And there you have it! My new desk space. Other than work and sleep, I've barely been able to tear myself away from my new computer. I love love LOVE it.
I don't know why but I always prefer working on a desktop when possible. Probably something to do with the size of the screen (and having to sit properly in a desk, rather than lounging on the couch). Anyone else feel this way?
