IN MY HEAD:

ON MY MIND:

This movie. Have you seen it?! I haven't laughed that long or that hard in ages. And the end? I'm still thinking about it.

So I almost bought a keychain just like this one after Christmas. I'm so glad I didn't because now I can MAKE one! You know I love a good DIY.

Like many people, Mac and Cheese is probably my favourite meal. But I prefer the super fatty kind with cream instead of skim milk and about twice the amount of cheese the recipe calls for - #notsohealthy. Adding roasted veggies, like this recipe from Jessica? That might just satisfy my inner health critic.

Seriously adorable iPhone wallpapers from Dana at Wonder Forest. I'm now using the 'hello' paper as my lock screen and the gold chevron as my home screen. That girl seriously knows the way to my gold-plated heart.

The classiest jumpsuit wearing I've ever seen, courtesy of Julia.

A super pretty summery boho look from Krystin.

And a casual and oh so lovely look from Jules. I need that clutch!

IN MY LINE OF SIGHT:

Breakfast on the green roof of the Market.
How have I never been in Fred?! So cute.
 Love the Halifax Seed building.
Such a pretty sunset on our way to the movies.
And a beach day on the South Shore last Sunday.
That's it for me. Happy Canada Day! Enjoy the long weekend!

Restraint.

Thursday, June 27

I did a little decor/antique shopping with my sister last weekend. Although I bought nothing (SUCH RESTRAINT! It's like I don't even know myself anymore), I coveted much. Here are a few things I would like, should anyone be feeling generous:

A porthole. For my non-existent gallery wall.
Very cool industrial (and DUSTY) lamps.
Old wooden chest. You can keep the duck decoys.
And Louis, the antique store dog. I wanted him most of all.

Drama

Wednesday, June 26

I think foyers might be my favourite to design. Small spaces in which you only spend short bursts of time (see also: powder rooms) allow for much more dramatic ideas. You don't have to worry that your eyes will be overwhelmed because you don't spend any prolonged time there. It's a fun challenge to see how much personality can be injected in a space that has room for very few pieces of furniture.

Warm Entry Way
  1. These horse photographs. I love them so much.
  2. Anthropologie hooks for your coats.
  3. The Porter pendant from Attica in Dark Antique Nickel.
  4. Hand-tufted Sandrina rug from Anthropologie.
  5. STUNNING Soho console table from Joy & Revelry.
  6. Twig mirror from West Elm.
  7. Etched cylindar vase lamp from Attica.
  8. Mercury glass bowl from Urban Outfitters for your odds & ends.
  9. Hans J. Wegner wishbone chairs to flank the console table, with pillows from Canadian company Dwell Studio.

Quantity > Quality

Tuesday, June 25

Warning: These are terribly lit and fuzzy iPhone photos.

I have a crappy old iPhone 4 that takes really bad photos. And SOMETIMES I remember to bust out my actual camera before going to work but usually I'm far too lazy/late for that. I'm attempting to compensate for the poor quality photos with sheer quantity (Instead of one crappy photo - you get TEN crappy photos!). So this is pretty much every outfit photo I've ever taken, in honour of this week's Style Sessions. Outfit details are below each post, on the off chance you can actually make out what I'm wearing and you care.
skirt & cardigan - old navy; grey t-shirt - gap; royal blue belt - jacob (old); striped flats - target (old); medina necklace - stella & dot
mustard jeans - joe fresh (last fall); black tank - gap; floral silk blouse - anthropologie (old); blazer - H&M (old); necklace - joe fresh (last fall)
white jeans - american eagle; grey long-sleeve tee - H&M (old); leopard print scarf - aldo (old); black flats - steve madden
black shift dress - H&M (old); trench - joe fresh (old); leopard flats - steve madden; neon pink nail polish - orly
white jeans - american eagle; black blouse - H&M; black blazer w/ faux leather lapels - american eagle (old); leopard flats - steve madden; wrap bracelet - club monaco; brown suede edie bag - roots
black high-waisted maxi skirt - sirens; black tank - gap; grey & white striped blazer - gap (old); medina necklace - stella & dot; black leather saddle bag - coach
turquoise maxi-dress - sirens; white blazer - gap (old); pippa necklace - stella & dot
black cotton dress - gap; floral blazer - lady dutch, via the bay; black sandals - gap (old); neon pink lipstick - mac's 'candy yum yum'

And lastly, the only non-iPhone photo:

Elemental

Monday, June 24

I spotted these rustic wood side tables at Home Sense last week and was completely enamoured with them. Adding a natural accent piece can really go a long way towards warming up a more modern room.
$89.99
$129.99
$89.99 (I think...)
Top of the table in the previous photo.
$119.99
Price unknown.
These ones are cute and relatively inexpensive, but you could also make a side table, if you're feeling handy. I found tutorials here and here.

I absolutely love this bedroom - isn't the rustic table so interesting looking?

A tree trunk coffee table makes this elegant and traditional room look much less stuffy (as does the plethora of alcohol, haha).

Pairing the rustic tables with a plush white sofa, leather butterfly chairs, and ornate mirrors creates a cozy and almost-Moroccan look.

In a pristine bathroom, a natural element like this little table really ups the cozy factor.

What do you think? Would you use one of these in your home?

IN MY HEAD:

These girls are so talented.

ON MY MIND:

Loving this infographic on living an average life.
A gorgeous family room by Emily.
Erin's stairs. There are no words. I die.
And I'm all over this maxi dress.

IN MY LINE OF SIGHT:

Why would I buy flowers when I can find these beauties in my Dad's garden?!
View of Harbour through my parent's arbor.
Also, this happened. I don't really know what to say about it...
Bought the summeriest blazer at The Bay. Such cute stuff right now.
Had the nicest after work beer at Hart and Thistle last night with my guy, followed by a stroll through the Art Gallery. Summertime, you're the best.
Lastly, HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sarcastic, hilarious, and amazing friend, Vic
Everyone should be so lucky to have someone like you in their life. xo

Perfect.

I always say that your space should tell people about your personality. What you like. What you care about. It should never look like a place where just anyone could live. It should like a place where YOU live. Well, I stumbled on this home tour on Apartment Therapy the other day and it is FULL of personality. Just the best. And judging from the decor - I'm pretty sure the owners and I are meant to be best friends.
 Brick. Toile. Velvet. Vintage. Dying.
Too much in the best possible way.
Hunter green and brick?!
I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I impromptu visited and slept on their couch, right?

Great Meadow

Wednesday, June 19

So, apparently Anthropologie has wallpaper. Crazy fun wallpaper. When I spotted this floral beauty last week, I immediately started imagining how fierce it would look as an accent wall in a living room. With a wallpaper this graphic, I wouldn't want to do more than one wall - unless the room was tiny (i.e., a powder room, closet, or short hallway). Below is a living room mood board I put together, inspired by Anthro's Great Meadow.

floral wallpaper living room
  1. Wall decor
  2. Grey patterned rug and grey linen drapes
  3. Anthropologie's Great Meadow mural, as an accent wall. I picture the remaining walls white or a very light grey.
  4. Industrial-style shelving
  5. Glass floor lamp and shell-like table lamp
  6. Distressed mirror
  7. Wicker blanket basket and several cozy blankets
  8. Whiskey leather poufs for occasional seating
  9. Tailored white sofa
  10. Traveler coffee table
  11. Groove side table
  12. Pair of killer turquoise leather Rhys chairs
  13. Pillow fabrics.

Plain White Tee

Tuesday, June 18

A white t-shirt has got to be one of my favourite looks. It pairs as perfectly with skinny jeans, coloured denim, or a pair of leggings as it does with pencil skirts and dress pants. My go-to work outfit consists of a white t-shirt, skinny jeans, a blazer, and flats. It really is the most versatile wardrobe staple. Throw on a statement necklace (this one is my preference) and a colourful lipstick (my favourites are here) and you're ready for anything!

I wear my white shirts into the ground. I'm constantly having to replace them. If you know any good secrets for keeping white shirts white - let me know! In honour of the most-worn item in my wardrobe (other than possibly leggings) - here are a few of my favourite white t-shirt looks:

And a few terribly lit photos of my white t-shirt outfits:
With grey jeans, riding boots, and bright lipstick for a night out
{AND} with pink floral skinny jeans, a khaki jacket, and converse for a casual Saturday
No full outfit shot of this one, but this was with a pencil skirt and lots of a jewelry for work!
