Come on in...

Monday, May 13

I love when blogs do house tours and judging from their popularity, I'm not alone. Given our voyeuristic tendencies, I thought it might be fun to ask Heather, one of my most stylish friends, if she would share her apartment with us today. So, without further ado... take a glimpse inside H's colourful and cozy Toronto home.
Left bedside table, metal lamp, bolster pillows, frame - IKEA; Right bedside table, glass lamp - vintage;  Duvet cover - West Elm; Art - wrapping paper from Kate's Paperie; Blue pillow - made out of an old family picnic blanket!
Heather says she kept the bathroom simple because it's mini.
Shower curtain; hooks - Target; Small print - antique from H's aunt; Art - gift from H's brother, from an art show.
Vases are a mix of antique and new. The wire H was a gift from me! From Etsy but the seller no longer exists :(
Table - family heirloom; Chairs - Goodwill ($15 each!); Painting - by H's Aunt Penny.
Marilyn Monroe print - gift from Heather's parents; CD/Liquor Shelf - an old kitchen cabinet painted blue (so creative!); Wooden chairs - from Heather's Oma & Opa; Round pillows - Pier One; Rug - IKEA
Couch - IKEA; Pillows - Pier One; Side tables - family heirlooms; Coffee table - antique found in Flesherton, Ontario; Lamps - Heather's mom (so glam!); Painting - art fair in Toronto
Teak chairs - vintage; Pillows - West Elm; Bookcase/TV stand - antique found in Clarksburg, Ontario; Liberty print - Heather's parents.

How do you feel when you're in your apartment?
I feel relaxed, when I'm not thinking about work :)

What inspired your look?
My look is largely inspired by my mom's style. I'd say there are pieces that I like paired with things my parents have given me to make for a pretty eclectic, yet pulled together style.

What's your favourite piece and why?
I have three faves! Can't pick just one :) My coffee table because it's the perfect fit for my couch and it's unique...love the blue tone on top and the one inch squares cut in. Also love my bookshelf because it does the job perfectly and the darker wood ties in with the different colours/tones. And I love my kitchen table because it's been in the family so long and is special to me. And if I can add a fourth I'd say my teak chairs because they're cool and comfy!

It's Sunday morning and you're home in your apartment - where are you and what are you doing?
On Sunday morning I like to make coffee and get back in bed to read. I find it's a nice, peaceful way to start the day :)

So there you have it, friends! Our first home tour. I've spent a lot of time in Heather's space and it's one of my favourite places to visit. I love her mix of gorgeous antiques and colourful art (isn't her aunt an amazing artist?!). It always feels inviting and cozy. What's your favourite part?

  4. This decor makes me feel good! I love how the blue matches so nicely between the cushions on the couch, the coffee table and the picture. Nice!
The orange cushions are also a nice accent!
I really love the painting in the dining room.
    Good job!
